Here Comes Relay … the Robot
Categories: Trend , Marketing Ideas , Toiletries
You might recall back in September we told you about Relay, a 3 ft tall rolling robot that several hotels were beginning to test for the delivery of things like extra towels, toiletries, and so forth. Well, that robot, made by a company in Silicon Valley called Savioke, may be coming to a hotel near you. Savioke is rolling out the model to several hotels around the world where the robots will be tasked with delivering toothpaste and coffee to guests.
Apparently, the Relay fleet made quite an impression during the test run -- more than 11,000 deliveries last year, which added up to more than 70 marathons or 3,000 kilometers, according to TechCrunch.

SPRING TREND: Wellness Travel
Constant stress, hours logged over a computer screen, and lackluster diets are paving the way for wellness travel this Spring. Is your bed and breakfast or spa ready to ease those troubles away? You might want to double your efforts, actually. Another trend this Spring ... is traveling with one child at a time.
Mindfulness and meditation will see a boost in schools, and on parent-child boding activities. In fact, the niche is expected to be one of the travel industry's most significant area of growth, encompassing spa visits and lodging.
Activities like child-friendly yoga, mommy-and-me massages, and family vacations that focus on wellness and organic eating are likely to draw crowds.
Spa Trend: Valentine's Treatments for Couples
Categories: Robes , Trend , Shower Wraps , Marketing Ideas , Spa
Sometimes everything is better in pairs ... that's definitely the case this February as Valentine's Day is upon us and couples treatments are experiencing a boost.
Looking for inspiration for your spa for February 14th? Here are some sample treatments that have created unique experiences in the past to mark this romantic holiday:
Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Couples Massage: At one spa, a chocolate-strawberry lotion is used to promote relaxation as couples are massaged side-by-side.
Berry Chocolate Pedicure: This little indulgence features a berry-exfoliating scrub and a chocolate hydrating mask, topped with a chocolate-strawberry foot massage, and optional painted toes.
Date Night: A spa getaway with overnight accommodations and full breakfast the next day. This just-for-couples experience includes an hour-long massage and dinner for two with a bottle of wine.
I'm in the Mocha for Love: This full-body chocolate wrap can be combined with cherries and chocolate for an antioxidant facial to moisturize and tighten the skin.
Delicious Duet: Unwind in a sauna then proceed to a Swedish massage. After a coconut vanillas body wrap and full-body dry brush exfoliation, enjoy a hot towel steam treatment, a warm cocoa butter hand hydration and mint scalp treatments, followed by a warm sugary foot scrub. There's even a souvenir -- a bristle brush and chocolates.
Pantone Names TWO Color(s) of the Year for 2016
Pantone, the color authority, has released the color of the year for 2016; or shall we say, the colors of the year! For the first time, Pantone has named two colors... presumably they knew things in pairs were a trend for the New Year. Now Rose Quartz and Serenity, which look like baby pink and baby blue, respectively, will share the coveted yearly distinction.
Why these two colors? And why two this particular year? According to the company website, consumers seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to stress and together Rose Quartz and Serenity create a balance. The combo of the colors also challenges the perception associated with each color, a representation of the times and of gender equality.

Spa Trend: Multi-Masking
Categories: Towels , Trend , Spa
It may indeed be a New Year but there still doesn't seem to be enough time. One of the top spa treatment trends for 2016 is multi-MASKING... and it's exactly how it sounds. Spa guests undergo multiple masks simultaneously, so they may address different concerns on different parts of their face and neck -- all at once. While multi-masking may not necessarily be new to spas, it is one of the suddenly trendy things to do this year.
In fact, some brands are tapping into this trend by packaging products as "duos" that help balance this and reinvigorate that, whether you're targeting the t-zone and the forehead at the same time, or working with portions of a guest's lips, cheeks and neck.
Spas that don't presently multi-mask, could quickly incorporate the trend, if they'd like, by pairing products, doubling solutions, and working key terms into the descriptions of treatments.

PS - Remember to double up on towels, you're likely to need them!
