Is Your Inn Ready for Spring?

Luxury Matters
Categories: linens , Robes , Bed and Breakfast

The changing of the seasons tends to make the to-do list a little bit longer. Heavier comforters are replaced with lighter ones, rugs get deep cleaned, and all around things are shifting. Here are three ways to quickly give your inn a refreshed look so that you may welcome the season, and more importantly, your guests.

Outsmart Allergens: Spring allergies can make your most jovial guest plain miserable. A good night's sleep will do wonders. Take a look at the EcoLuxe Microfiber Sheets. These performance microfiber sheets feel like 600 thread count cotton, are incredibly soft, and very breathable. They contain an extra fine weave, which protects your guests from dust mite allergies. Plus, they're eco-friendly and the highly sustainable linens are 100% recyclable and energy efficient. These sheets dry more quickly, cutting down on your water use, and electric bill. They also use less detergent and don't require any ironing.

Change Your Scents: Have you tried the Duck Island Embossed Soap (pictured above) from our new Bath and Body Collection? Duck Island provides a luxurious experience and the perfect scent for Spring. The round, 20g, soap comes inside a recyclable cellophane wrap. You may even want to tuck a few of these into drawers to serve as sachets.

Wrap It Up: Swap your winter robes for lighter robes and consider adding spa wraps for guest ease and convenience. A Classic Waffle Kimono Robe feels lighter on the skin and is particularly comfortable as the weather warms. Spa wraps offer a quick over up for adults too -- without the added weight of a robe.

Warmest Robes for Coldest Winters

Luxury Matters
Categories: Robes , Spa , Bed and Breakfast

It may be cold outside... but not in here! Berkshire Amenities offers many warm bathrobes to keep your guests cozy on cold winter days and nights. There's nothing better for a guest than to step out of the shower to a fluffy, welcoming, robe. We're often asked which are our warmest robes. Here are our top three robes, in terms of warmth:

Plus Lined Microfiber Robes: Microfiber is a fabric that's often been used by outdoor enthusiasts because the material wicks moisture away from the body, helping the body to retain heat in cooler temperatures. Our Plush Lined Microfiber robes are very soft to the touch. The shell is made of true microfiber and the lining is 100% micro-plush polyester. The robes feel incredibly cozy and luxurious -- and are machine washable. We have these robes in different styles, like the Microfiber Shawl Lined in Plush and the Diamond Waffle Shawl Lined in Plush.

Terry Velour Robes: These robes are made from heavy weight 100% cotton terry velour, which is a knitted material that keeps the body warm and feels as smooth as velvet. It is also easily machine washable and comes in various styles -- some with fully lined hoods, others with elegant pinstripespleat backs and pockets, or shawl collars and piping accents.

Plush Lined Corduroy Robes: The word corduroy comes from the French phrase corde du roi, which translated literally means "cord of the king." The material is made of twisted fibers, making corduroy warm, breathable, and very comfortable. Our Corduroy Microfiber Lined Robe is made of 100% microfiber corduroy fabric lined in soft ultra-plush polyester. Like the others, this robe is also machine washable.

Sometimes everything is better in pairs ... that's definitely the case this February as Valentine's Day is upon us and couples treatments are experiencing a boost.

Looking for inspiration for your spa for February 14th? Here are some sample treatments that have created unique experiences in the past to mark this romantic holiday:

Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Couples Massage: At one spa, a chocolate-strawberry lotion is used to promote relaxation as couples are massaged side-by-side.

Berry Chocolate Pedicure: This little indulgence features a berry-exfoliating scrub and a chocolate hydrating mask, topped with a chocolate-strawberry foot massage, and optional painted toes.

Date Night: A spa getaway with overnight accommodations and full breakfast the next day. This just-for-couples experience includes an hour-long massage and dinner for two with a bottle of wine.

I'm in the Mocha for Love: This full-body chocolate wrap can be combined with cherries and chocolate for an antioxidant facial to moisturize and tighten the skin.

Delicious Duet: Unwind in a sauna then proceed to a Swedish massage. After a coconut vanillas body wrap and full-body dry brush exfoliation, enjoy a hot towel steam treatment, a warm cocoa butter hand hydration and mint scalp treatments, followed by a warm sugary foot scrub. There's even a souvenir -- a bristle brush and chocolates.

How to Choose the Right Robe for Your Inn or Spa

Luxury Matters
Categories: Robes , Spa , Bed and Breakfast

Don't underestimate the power of a high quality robe. The right robe provides a luxurious experience to your guest in a very personal way. It also goes a long way to properly showcase your image.

So, how do you know which robe is the right robe for you inn, beauty spa or medical spa? Here are some basic pointers:

Choose  the Right Fabric. Fabric is the most important feature of a robe because it creates an instantly interactive experience for your guest. The touch and feel, the absorbency, and the weight of the robe, all depend on the fabric you choose. At an inn or spa, robes will either be used immediately pre-or-post showering or for lounging around for pockets of time. As such, the best robe material for these uses include: microfiber, cotton waffle, cotton terry, velour, and chamois.

  • Microfiber robes are relatively new to the robes market and are becoming more and more popular. The weight of these robes is ideal year-round and the material absorbs water well. It's also very soft to the touch.

  • Cotton Terry robes have great water absorption, particularly when the fabric density and weight is high. These robes are ideal for use out of the shower and also for poolside use.

  • Velour robes feel quite velvety; they can also feel warn and insulating. While these robes are high in cotton and are popular in cooler climates, they're often used year round and are comfortable in all seasons.

  • Chamois robes are five times more absorbent than cotton. These robes are incredibly durable and need 1/3 the energy to dry... making it an excellent Earth-saving and cost-saving robe, particularly for properties out west where water is dangerously scarce. If you're considering this robe, also peruse the Monarch Green Earth Eco Towel, which also launders quickly and is environmentally-friendly too.

Choose the Right Size. Selecting the right size robe for your inn or spa can be tricky. It's best to have a few different sizes to offer guests the best true fit, and to stock a few extra sized robes for those bigger than average guests. If you need to buy several robes at once, call us and we'll help you determine the sizes that would best suit your particular guests - (413) 229-8200, for inns, B&Bs, and boutique hotels dial ext 17, for spas use ext 18.

Choose the Right Features. Choosing your robes' features can be fun or it can be daunting given the many different features that are available. Do you want to add elegance with a shawl collar? Would large pockets benefit your guests? Is a hooded robe better for your guests? Do wider, kimono-style, sleeves best support your treatments? While there's a lot to consider, there's little to fret... we're here to help.
